If you look closely at a river, you might be able to grasp the incalculable connection between the flow of water and everything around it. Water proclaims life: it is present in all living organisms, fertilizes the earth and the skies, and, as it flows through the Earth’s crust, connects life within itself. In some ways, the culture of water—cultus: cultivate, care, and honour—has shaped our worldview as human beings; and although in the current turmoil we seem to have forgotten this connection, water continues to murmur, inseparable from our lives.

The Dialogues with the water of the Ter project reflects the work carried out with 4th-year ESO (secondary school) students at the Carles Rahola Institute in Girona. Together we have tried to tune our ears to the echo of voices emanating from the waters of the Ter, under the premise that learning to listen to a territory is also learning to love it.
